Самопроизв. перенос вещ-ва и выравн. неоднородной концентрации атомов или молекул вследствие теплов. движ. частиц. Беспоряд. движ. атомов относит. кристаллич. решетки тех же атомов называют самодиффузией. Впервые метод расчета изменения концентраций р-р. вещ-ва в рез-те д. предложил в 1855 г. Фик. Согласно первому закону Фика кол-во диффундир. вещ-ва, переход, через ед. пл. попер, сеч. в ед. врем, (поток I) пропорц. градиенту концентраций с/х, измер. по нормали к этому сеч.: /= —D(c/x), где D — коэфф. д. Коэфф. д. хар-ризует кол-во вещ-ва, к-рое диффунд. через единич. площадку за ед. врем, при единич. градиенте концентраций и имеет размерн. см/с (м/с). С повышением температуры коэфф. д. возрастает по закону Аррениуса: D= Daexp(—Q/R7), где Q— энергия активации при д., a D0 — предэкспоненц. множ., в первом приближ. не завис, от темп-ры и концентр.
Доминир. механизм д. в тв. р-рах замещения - ваканс. д. атомов внедр. происх. по междоузлиям. Д. вдоль своб. пов-тей, межзер. границ, вдоль дислокаций происходит во много раз (иногда на несколько порядков) более интенсивно, чем в объеме зерен из-за меньшей энергии активации при д. При темп-рном градиенте происх. термодиффузия, при к-рой р-р. элемент перемещ. в напр, увелич. р-римости.
В электрич. поле происх. электроперенос, при к-ром положит. заряж. ионы перемещ. к катоду, а отрицат. заряж.— к аноду.
В поле механич. напряж. атомы р-р. вещ-ва перемещ. в направл. обл. растяж. д. в жидкости или газе обусл. конвекцией и наз. конвективной д.
